Afghanistan 1878-80, 1 clasp, Peiwar Kotal (1050. Pte. E. Pugh. 2/8th Regt.), contact marks, very fine

Edward Pugh was born in Strangeways, Manchester and attested with the General Infantry on 30 November 1876 at Ashton-under-Lyne. He was 18 years old and had been working as a labourer as well as having served in the 6th Lancashire Militia. Pugh joined the 2/8 Corps on 4 December 1876, and was posted to India with his Regiment on 20 September 1877. He remained in India before being stationed in Afghanistan, where he was between 21 November 1878 and 20 October 1880, upon which time Pugh was returned to India. He remained in India until returning home to England on 24 May 1883. Pugh was finally discharged on 29 November 1888 having served his limited period of engagement; sold together with copied service record.
