Philip Joseph O'Sullivan was born on 1 May 1878 at Blackwater, Wexford, Ireland. He enlisted on 1 September 1914 into "B" Squadron 2nd Light Horse Regiment at Enoggera, Brisbane, Queensland. He was sent overseas on Star of England arriving in Egypt on 9 December 1914 for further training. The regiment was sent to Gallipoli but he remained in Egypt with the horses. He fought in the Battle of Romani in August 1916 and became seriously ill at Romani and was admitted to Hospital in September 1916. He died on 12 November 1936.

Eric James O'Sullivan was born at Brisbane on 28 January 1912 and enlisted on 4 May 1942. He served in New Guinea from 28 August 1942 until 29 December 1942 and again between 16 July 1943 and 27 June 1944 before being discharged on 17 April 1946. He is further entitled to a 1939-1945 Star and Pacific Star, enclosed correspondence notes that these were lost in the clean up of a flood in 1974 and could not be reclaimed by his wife who by this time was a widow, O'Sullivan died on 25 August 1977. She was however able to claim the medals issued here which were claimed by her in September 1982 as her late husband had not been issued them.
