Pryce Evans
Evans was posted to France with the British Expeditionary Force, disembarking on 19 January 1915. There, on 23 May 1915, Evans suffered a gunshot wound to the head, though the circumstances around which this occurred are not explained. However, given the date, it could have been earned during the Second Battle of Artois. He was quickly invalided home on 26 May and spent time at the 2nd Western General Hospital in Manchester, from which he was discharged on 17 November 1915 and ordered to join his unit at Felixstowe. On 5 May 1916, Evans transferred to the Suffolk Regiment, 2nd Home Service Garrison Battalion.
However, Evans was not to serve long with the Suffolk Regiment and was soon discharged on 30 June 1916 for no longer being physically fit for service. Evans appears on the roll for the Silver War badge due to 'wounds', and is entitled to badge number 71826.
At some point, Pryce moved to Canada where he resided at Woodbridge, Ontario from whence he wrote on 31 March 1921 requesting his medals be forwarded to his Canadian address. They were sent to him in January 1922; sold together with copied research, including service record and medal rolls.
