Mobilised at Greenock the next day, Phillip was posted to the armed boarding steamer Stephen Furness and served with her for the rest of the year. Posted to Teal on 20 January 1916 which was wrecked the following year off the Island of Eat Muck in the Moray Firth. The Hull Daily Mail refers:

'The trawler Teal, belonging to Hull, ran ashore on submerged rocks in the Moray Firth, one mile north Buckie, named the East Mucks. The crew stood by the vessel for some hours, but a sudden gale arising the crew of ten were rescued by the attendant vessels, and when day broke yesterday morning, the wrecked vessel had completely disappeared beneath the waves.'

Phillip is listed as joining the books of Victory I from H.T. Teal ten days later and saw further service with Wallington and Queen. He was demobilised from Victory II on 10 August 1919; sold together with copied service papers.
