John Valentine Frew was born on Valentine's Day at the Normanton Barracks in Derby, the son of John Cameron Frew who was a Serjeant in the Derbyshire Regiment. John Valentine Frew served with the 20th Hussars, who were stationed in Colchester from 1911 until embarking for France in August 1914. They were in the 5th Cavalry Brigade throughout the war alongside the Royal Scots Greys and the 12th Lancers. Frew married Daisy Dancey at Essex in 1918 and the next year was part of the Class Z Army Reserve, he passed away aged 79 at Colchester in 1966; sold together with copied research.
