(x) Canadian Memorial Cross, G.V.R. (2590978 Pte. W. T. Britnell.), good very fine

William Thomas Britnell was born on 31 March 1897 and was a clerk living at Summerhill Avenue, Toronto upon the outbreak of the Great War. He served with the Canadian Army Service Corps and thence the 19th (Central Ontario) Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was mortally wounded on 11 October 1918 by gunshot wounds to the left thigh and right knee which left him with a fractured femur and died the same day. Britnell is buried in the Queant Communal Cemetery Extension.
