Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (3519 L.-Corpl: E. Hocking, 20th Hussars.), contact marks, significant edge knocks, otherwise very fine

Edwin Hocking was born in 1874 in Whitechapel, London where he enlisted with the 20th Hussars in 1892 at age 17, but lied and claimed to be 18 years old. Hocking was posted to India in 1895 and remained there until he was ordered to South Africa in December 1901. He left South Africa and returned home in May 1902, where he was discharged in 1904 due to the termination of his period of engagement; sold together with copied research.
