Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (Serjt M. Gabriel. 49th Regt), officially impressed naming, edge nicks, very fine

Michael Gabriel was born in 1831 in Westminster and enlisted there with the 49th Foot in 1849. He was promoted Corporal in 1854 and joined his Regiment in Crimea in November of that year, missing the Battles of The Alma and Inkermann. Gabriel was promoted Serjeant in December 1854 shortly before he died in the Scutari Hospital under unclear circumstances on 14 February 1855, he was one of the 391 men of the unit who died in the Crimean war; sold together with copied research.
