William Todd Munro was born on 9 July 1891 at Gavell. He served on Tonawanda in the Great War which was torpedoed in the English Channel on 2 June 1917 by the U-Boat SM UC-21, the ship did reach port safely. He saw service on the tankers Bharata and Gold Ranger during the Second World War and for his time in South East Asia. He is entitled to the Second World War medals as listed but the France and Germany clasp is not confirmed. Munro serves on the tanker Brown Ranger in Korea and continues his seafaring career until June 1958.
