1895-96 1r. green and carmine showing variety Hindi characters transposed, in pair with normal [R19/1], part original gum with a few tone spots, mostly confined to the non-variety stamp. An exceptional rarity with only twelve examples possible, from which nine are known, one in the Royal Philatelic Collection, and this being one of only two known examples in pair with normal. B.P.A. Certificate (2003) which mentions "A little peripheral staining", though again this is mostly confined to the non-variety stamp. S.G. O10a, £3,500+. Photo
