The James Song FRPSL Large Gold Medal Collection of The Chin Hills District
After the Japanese occupied Rangoon in March 1942, an emergency mail service was organised by Major A.G. McCall, District Commissioner, Lushai Hills at Aijal.
The postal runners made an eight day journey from Haka, Tiddim and Fort White via Falam to Aijal in Assam and thence to India.
By July stamps overprinted "service"
had become exhausted and ordinary postage stamps overprinted "ohms" by typewriter were approved

1942 (9 Oct.) re-used OHMS envelope (255x115mm.) to Falam, bearing Official 3p. bright violate (2) in combination with 1a. purple-brown (3) with type-written "ohms" (Type 4), all tied by double-ring d.s. and showing brown sealing tape at left, Chin Hills "27" triangular censor cachet in violet (earliest recorded date of use) with arrival d.s. (13.10) on reverse; envelope with tear at right caused through opening. A rare mixed issue franking. Photo
