The James Song FRPSL Large Gold Medal Collection of The Chin Hills District
After the Japanese occupied Rangoon in March 1942, an emergency mail service was organised by Major A.G. McCall, District Commissioner, Lushai Hills at Aijal.
The postal runners made an eight day journey from Haka, Tiddim and Fort White via Falam to Aijal in Assam and thence to India.
By July stamps overprinted "service"
had become exhausted and ordinary postage stamps overprinted "ohms" by typewriter were approved

OHMS brown envelope (250x115mm.) registered to Tiddim, showing faint type-written framed "By Authority/Govt Postage/frank/chin hills/ohms" (one of three recorded) partly obscured by KGV 9p. deep green strip of four handstamped "ohms" vertically with Type 2 in black and diagonally in violet, 1½a. turquoise-green with type-written Type 4 and 2a.6p. claret with type-written Type 10 and handstamped in violet, showing provisional registration label with arrival datestamp (13.10) on reverse. Very rare use of KGV stamps. Photo
