The James Song FRPSL Large Gold Medal Collection of The Chin Hills District
After the Japanese occupied Rangoon in March 1942, an emergency mail service was organised by Major A.G. McCall, District Commissioner, Lushai Hills at Aijal.
The postal runners made an eight day journey from Haka, Tiddim and Fort White via Falam to Aijal in Assam and thence to India.
By July stamps overprinted "service"
had become exhausted and ordinary postage stamps overprinted "ohms" by typewriter were approved

1942 (5 Oct.) long brown OHMS envelope (400x145mm.; folded for display) registered to Fort White, bearing 6p. bright blue marginal block of eight (4x2) with type-written "ohms" (Type 4), 2a. carmine vertical pair with manuscript "o.h.m.s." and 3a.6p. light blue and blue top right corner vertical strip of three with type=written "ohms" (Type 11), all tied by Registered double-ring c.d.s. and showing provisional registration label with arrival datestamp (6.10) on reverse.
