King's South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (7747 Bomb: J. Gibson. R.H.A.), very fine

John Gibson, a native of Sheerness, Kent was born in 1880 and enlisted as a 14-year-old boy in the Royal Artillery on 7 January 1895. Posted to 'U' Battery, he served with them during the Boer War (Queen's Medal & 4 clasps, King's Medal & 2 clasps). Discharged in 1907, he re-enlisted in January 1908 and served in the Great War in the Royal Field Artillery (No. 49464), initially in France and later in Salonika. He was wounded on 7 July 1915 and discharged medically unfit in 1920 with an exemplary record. He is entitled to a 1914 Star Trio.
