James Alfred Vawser was apparently born at Glanville, South Australia and served with the Australian Imperial Force from 22 June 1940-29 March 1944. He is understood to have served overseas with the 2/43rd Infantry Battalion and thence the 24th Anti-Tank Company. At some point he clearly joined the Australian Volunteers in the Far East.
This group was in the collection of the prominent Texan collector Dan Farek and thence Professor Frederick Dumin in early 1975, sold together with copied letters between Farek and the Australian Archives.
