Harry Jones was born in 1922, the son of Henry and Rebecca Jones of Euloe Green, Hawarden. He served as a Flight Sergeant with the service number 1078672. He was awarded the D.F.M. while still a Sergeant with No. 76 Squadron but was commissioned around the same time. Commissioned Pilot Officer on 3 January 1944 with the number 171287 and promoted Flying Officer not long later on 3 July 1944.
Jones was flying with 1663 Heavy Conversion Unit when his Halifax crashed into Weatherby Golf Course, Weatherby on 24 August 1944. One of its engines having caught fire after take off and the entire crew was killed in the crash. Jones is buried at Hawarden Cemetery, Flintshire; sold together with an Air Gunners wing, named and addressed O.H.M.S. box of issue and a copied Commonwealth War Graves Certificate.
