David Albert Scott was born at Sheerness, Kent on 31 May 1864. He enlisted into the Royal Navy on 31 May 1882 and served on Thalia from 27 July-31 October 1882. He resigned from the Royal Navy on 26 February 1904 and rejoined on 2 August 1914 serving on Hannibal with further service aboard, Royal Arthur, the M.F.A. Fairie, Brilliant and Ambitious. Scott was demobilised in October 1919.
