George Morgan was born at Bath, Somerset and lied about his age - stating 17 September 1829 - at his volunteering (No. 564) for the Royal Navy on 1 July 1853. He served aboard the Odin in the Crimea and the Baltic at the rate of Captain of the Mizen Top. Having thence served in the Coast Guard and completed his period of engagement, he re-joined (No. 68319) on 1 July 1863. Rising to become Chief Boatman in Charge, he was finally pensioned on 7 December 1886; sold together with copied research.
