British War Medal 1914-20 (2473 A.Sjt. E. C. Chamberlain. 13-Lond. R.), lightly toned very fine

Ernest Charles Chamberlain was born at Fulham, enlisted at Kensington and served in France with the 13th (Kensington) Battalion, London Regiment from 6 March 1915. He was was killed in action on 9 May 1915, being commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial. His MIC notes an authority to dispose of the medals however this was not carried out. He was the son of Charles and Emily Esther Chamberlain, of 3 Cleveland Road, Barnes and was one of five brothers who served during the Great War, two of whom were casualties.
