Sikh Empire, Ranjit Singh (VS 1856-96; 1799-1839), Gobindshahi Rupee, Amritsar, fixed year VS 1884 / 95 (Herrli 01.21.04; Gurprit Singh 01.81.01; KM 21.2), test cut and shroff mark on edge, single reverse test punch, good extremely fine, unusual in this condition

This is the first year of striking for the later Gobindshahi series of Rupees. On this series the honorific Jiyo was removed from the mint name, and it appears as Sri Amritsar.
A double offering of Rupees of this date and type sold at Spink auction 21117, for £700 (January 2021, lot 4346).
