Arthur Thomas Lewis was born at Maurtain Ast, Glamorganshire on 12 July 1898. Enlisting with the Army Service Corps he served for two years in a Mechanical Transport Company. Transferring to the Royal Air Force on 29 April 1919 he was posted first to Uxbridge and then on 19 January 1920 to R.A.F. Halton. From here Lewis was sent to join No. 20 Squadron on the Northwest Frontier. Here he was posted worked between R.A.F. Peshawar, Kohat and Ambala. Lewis was finally demobilised in 1923; sold together with copied medal roll, service records and M.I.C..
