Frank Tindell Marson was born at Beverley, Yorkshire in 1895, the son of Fredrick and Sarah Marson of 50 Cherry Tree Lane, Beverley. Enlisting at Beverley with the 8th Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment Marson joined the war in France in time for the Somme Offensive. The Battalion was engaged in the vicinity of Carnoy in the first week of the battle and it was from here on 14 July that they advanced towards Longueval. Marson was killed on 15 July, presumably in the aftermath of the attack. He is buried at the Gommecourt British Cemetery; sold together with original newspaper cuttings, slip of issue for his medals and cap badges as well as copied Commonwealth War Graves details.

William Tindall Marson was born at Beverley in 1899, the son of Fredrick and Sarah Marson of 50 Cherry Tree Lane, Beverley. A member of the Territorial Force before enlisting at Beverley Marson joined 'B' Company, 5th Battalion in France. He was present for the 5th Battalion's heroic defence of Bucquoy in late march 1918 during the Battle of Cambrai. During this engagement three British Companies were surrounded and captured at Rettemoy Farm on 27 March. Marson was listed as missing that day and it was hoped he may be a prisoner however it proved that he had in fact died that day. He is commemorated upon the Thiepval Memorial; sold together with copied Commonwealth War Graves details.
