Harry Benton was born in 1891, the son of Charles and Rachel Benton of Doddinghurst, Essex. Living at Brentwood, Essex he enlisted at Warley with the 1/7th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment for service in the Great War.
Engaged in at attack at Bouleaux Wood on 16 September in an attempt to follow up on an abortive assault by the 1st Battalion, London Regiment. They were ordered to stand down at the last moment and instead consolidate the ground taken by the Londons which they did though with heavy losses, Benton was on of those killed during that engagement; sold together with copied research including M.I.C., Commonwealth War Graves details and War Diary extract for September 1916.
