John Henry George Monk enlisted with the Territorial Force on 21 July 1915 at Straford. Embodied with 3/1 E. A. (Essex), Howitzer Battery he was soon posted to 1/1 E. A. (Essex), Howitzer Battery on 11 March 1916 and entered the war in France on 13 March. Monk served here until a diagnosis of Shell Shock on 4 June 1917, he returned home on 10 September and was discharged on 15 August 1918. His medals were sent to his home at Plainstow, Essex. Monk died in 1961 and was buried at Newham, London; sold together with copied research including M.I.C., census data and service records.
