Thomas Sidney Finning was born at Stoke Dameral, Devon in 1892 and worked as a Railway Clerk at Clapham Juntion before the war. Enlisting with the Royal Fusiliers he was posted to the 13th (Service) Battalion and entered the war in France on 30 July 1915. Marrying while on leave on 9 June 1916 at St. Andrew's Church, Wandsworth to Edith Sharman he re-joined his Battalion at Humbercourt. Finning was killed exactly one month after his marriage on 9 July 1916 at Ovillers during the Somme Offensive. He is commemorated upon the Thiepval Memorial; sold together with typed research.
