Charles Wilfred Turner was born at Barry in 1899, the son of David and Mary Turner of 28 Oxford Street, Barry. Enlisting with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 15 February 1917 at Cardiff he entered the war in France on 5 December 1917. Transferring to the 10th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) on 6 April 1918. Turner was caught by the effects of a gas shell on 15 August 1918 and taken first to No. 53 Casualty Clearing Station and later No. 26 General Hospital, Boulogne, he died on 21 August. He is buried at Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport; sold together with copied research including M.I.C., Commonwealth War Graves details and service records.
