Ronald Griffin was born at Stapleford, Nottinghamshire in 1890, the son of Joseph and Martha Griffin of 24 Brookhill Street, Stapleford. Attesting with the North Staffordshire Regiment in London he was given the Service Number 37600 before transferring to 12th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. Griffin was killed in action while serving with this unit, likely at the Battle of Langemark where 15th (Scottish) Division was engaged from 16-18 August. He died on 18 August and was buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery; sold together with copied research including Commonwealth War Graves details and M.I.C.
