1864-71 Watermark Large Star, Perforated 12½ at Auckland
1873 (25 Nov.) from Napier to Cork carried on the 1st voyage of the short-lived 'Hall and Forbes service via Fiji' by the "Governor Blackall", bearing 2d. vermilion horizontal strip of three twice cancelled "11" and showing, on reverse, Wellington dispatch (12.12) and arrival (17.2) c.d.s. An attractive and most unusual routing. R.P.S. Certificate (2006). S.G. 138

Note: This service, run by H. H. Hall and Forbes, was initiated on 22nd December 1873 and ran until August 1874, mail from New Zealand connecting at Fiji with the Sydney-Fiji-Honolulu-San Francisco service run by Australasian and American Mail Steamship Company.
