STEPhAN[V]S • REX, retrograde Ss, cross potent, fleur-de-lis in angles, 1.14g, 8h (Allen NC 2016, dies unrecorded; North 934; Spink 1322), a minor flan split at 9 o'clock resulting in a metal furl, and a planchet clip at 6 o'clock resulting in minor edge raggedness, otherwise of solid fabric, an irregular dark patina overlying lustrous original surfaces, very fine and pleasingly so or better but for traces of doubling to peripheries, extremely rare
