U.S.A.: Boston & Colonial Steam Ship Company, $100 shares, 186[6], #255, signed by Franklin Snow as President and Henry Mayo as Treasurer, sail assisted steamer top centre, black. Incorporated in 1865 to run steamers between Boston & Prince Edward's Island. They purchased the Confederate blockade runner 'Greyhound' on which the Confederate spy Miss Belle Boyd was captured but the ship was lost in December 1865 after striking rocks off the coast of Nova Scotia. Henry Mayo appears to be an experience steamboat captain and Franklin Snow & Co. were Boston fish dealers. They were also advertising steamship excursions in 1866. AVF.
