1888 (28 July) locally addressed envelope, bearing 1887 blue granite paper with embossed Arms 1d. tied by "vryheid" oval d.s. in violet, the letter redirected and marked "via Utrecht" with, on reverse, manuscript "Vryheid onbekent" (unknown) and "Zie Dundee" and showing Dundee (20.8), Newcastle (21.8) and Utrecht (24.8) datestamps. A rare cover posted eight days after New Republic was incorporated into Transvaal. Photo
