1848 (5 July) commercial wrapper to London "via hambourg" marked "Charge" and "Registered Letter" with number "13", a fine strike of unframed "wien/recommand/5.jui" in black, handstamped "Franco" in red and large "P." in oval with a neat but light strike of crowned "registered" handstamp of Hamburg in black plus London Paid c.d.s. (11.7), the reverse with Hamburg transit (8.7) and the large boxed "hull/ship-letter" datestamp (10.7) in blue; some additional manuscript markings including "2/36" (2 g, 36kr.). A good cover.

Note that the registration rate was reduced from 1/- to 6d. on 1st March 1848. This letter was routed via Hull, thus irt did not receive the London registered handstamp
