1841 (4 Feb.) entire letter to Aberystwyth marked "Registered Letter" in red ink and the rate mark "1/-" changed to "1/6" ( the standard registration plus 6d. for postage). There is a trace of a postmark on the reverse, the letter shows this to have been sent from Bala. Without any filing creases, clean and fine. This is the earliest known Welsh inland registered letter
This letter contained £2.7.0d. in coin, explaining the 6d. postage for up to 3oz. This is a remarkable cover as registration forms were only delivered to the provinces between 25th January to 20th February 1841
