Stamps of South Africa Used in South West Africa
These were available up to 31 January 1923 when they ceased to be valid. On 17 December 1920 the League of Nations conferred a Mandate of Administration of the territory on His Britannic Majesty, to be carried out by the government in South Africa. The Mandate came into force on 1 January 1923, on which date the first South African stamps overprinted for use in the territory were issued

1923 (27 Jan.) overprinted 6d. G size envelope from Karibib, uprated with 3d. blue, to Germany, cancelled with double-ring datestamp and with manuscript "Karibib" alongside handstamp registered handstamp. A rare usage of the 3d. ultramarine, the last of the King's Head stamps to be issued for use in South West Africa on 4 October 1922 and thus in use for a very short period prior to invalidation on 31 January 1923.
