Stamps of South Africa Used in South West Africa
These were available up to 31 January 1923 when they ceased to be valid. On 17 December 1920 the League of Nations conferred a Mandate of Administration of the territory on His Britannic Majesty, to be carried out by the government in South Africa. The Mandate came into force on 1 January 1923, on which date the first South African stamps overprinted for use in the territory were issued

1915 (17 Aug.) envelope (neat horizontal fold at foot) from Windhoek and addressed locally, showing sender's cachet and bearing ½d. neatly cancelled by mute A.P.O. 6 datestamp with year date error "14" for "15", framed bi-lingual "passed by censor" handstamp in violet at foot
