1856 (24 Mar.) envelope from Demerara to Mahaicony, bearing 1856 surfaced-colured paper 4c. black on magenta initialled "CAW" (C.A. Watson) and cut octagonally leaving design intact, neatly cancelled with double-arc datestamp; the adhesive with small natural surface erosion at top and small closed tear outside design at upper left, the envelope with slight ageing and cut to show another example of the despatch datestamp on reverse.
