The company was a consolidation in 1882 of the Vulcan Steel Company, the Pilot Knob Iron Company and the Grand Tower, Mining Manufacturing & Transportation Company, produced steel rails for Gould's Wabash system. Ethan Hitchcock, 1835-1909, businessman, Ambassador to Russia 1897-1899, 22nd Secretary of the Interior under McKinley and Roosevelt. GVF.
