1913 (10 Oct.) cover front to Chengtu bearing 1911 3p. on 1c., ½a. on 2c. and 1a. on 4c., each cancelled by a superb strike of the type 3 Chabdo Tibet c.d.s. Clean and fine. This is the latest recorded use of the Imperial stamps and the large dater. Photo

Chamdo was the last Chinese post office in Kham west of Yangtze that ceased operation. Chamdo Chamdo was briefly occupied by Tibetan troops in 1912, recovered by the Chinese, then reoccupied by the Tibetans in 1917. When Chamdo was evacuated the overland route was blocked for normal mail
