Foreign Mail Without Forwarding Arrangements: 1941 (11 Oct.) envelope from Chicago to Lhasa with 7c. franking tied by Chicago machine postmark, boxed "retour" and a very fine strike of handstruck "Undelivered for reason stated./to be returned to sender/at the address shown on the cover." plus triangular Calcutta censor handstamp; backstamps with a faint strike of Gyantse c.d.s., boxed "D.L.O." datestamps of Bombay (2) and Calcutta (2), boxed "non-reclame/not claimed" and manuscript "No Convention of Exchange of mails between India and Tibet - No Agents at Gyantse hence returned to sender" in red ink. A good cover used two years after the previous lot. Photo
