Colston Shepherd in London bearing the special circular Purnea datestamp (dated 7 April) plus the three-line special handstamp (types XI and X), the reverse with "raj darbhanga" printed on the flap, India 13a. franking and manuscript, "Certified as carried over Mount Everest, April 3, 1933, S. Blacker". Fine and rare. Photo

Waterfall notes that, during the excitement, there was some confusion about the datestamp and suggested that the mail was cancelled dated 5th April. However, this is certified by one of the two photographers on the flight
