1936 (15 Apr.) envelope to the President of the Royal Geographical Society with Air Mail etiquette and a fine strike of the type G Expedition handstamp from Jikyop and initialled by Hugh Ruttledge, the reverse bears the large oval of the Political Office, Sikkim handstamp covered by the printed label, "Suffered detention in Gangtok post office owing to the Postmaster's failure to affix postage stamps and forward them in time. The post-master has been sent to jail for his offence.". Clean and fine. Photo
Most of the mail was stolen from this Expedition, the culprit was the postmaster in Gangtok. Ultimately 494 letters from approximately 1000 were recovered in a box buried in the Sikkim forest
