New Zealand 1845-66, undated reverse (Ensgn. W. Busfield. 68th. Foot.), with original riband and silver buckle claw and in its named box of issue, good very fine

Walter Busfield was made Ensign on 26 November 1861 and is confirmed as having served in the action at the Gate Pa, 29 April 1864 (Well done the 68th, refers). He retired in 1868 and a photograph of 'Ensign Walker Bushfield' is held by the Durham Light Infantry Museum (Ref: D/DLI 2/1/265(50). Busfield married Marianne Naish, only daughter of William Naish, of Ston Easton shortly after retiring. He died before 1891 and a stained glass window was given by Mrs Hooper in his memory to Ston Easton Church.
