Oliver Gilbert Grace was born in 1896 and was educated at Berkhamsted School. He served in the Great War and as a Captain and Adjutant in the Green Howards, Staff Captain and Brigade Major, 189th Infantry Brigade. He entered the Indian Police in 1920 and was Commandant of the N.W. Frontier Constabulary, 1937-47 and Inspector-General of N.W. Frontier Police Pakistan, 1947-51. Awarded the O.B.E. in 1934; C.I.E. in 1945 and Knighted in 1953. Latterly living in South Africa, he died on 23 January 1968; sold together with a fine portrait photograph of the recipient in uniform wearing his full-sze medals and copied research.
