J. P. Turner joined the Queen's Own Highlanders in early 1989 and served with the 1st Battalion in Northern Ireland in 1990. In the Gulf he was with a Milan unit attached to the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers with call sign '44A' and would have been present in the action which won Captain G. Brieselden a Military Cross. The action took place on 26 January 1991 in which they stormed and took an enemy bunker. Turner was discharged on 21 October 1994; sold with copied research.
