James Hookins was born at King's Compton, Somerset on 11 November 1858 and enlisted in the Royal Marines on 11 November 1876. Having served in Egypt, he was awarded this L.S. & G.C. on 20 February 1889 and was discharged in August 1897. He died on 17 December 1943.
