A 1942 M.C. group of five awarded to Major R. E. Ovenden, Somerset Light Infantry, attached 9th Battalion, Durham Light Infatry, who was killed in action on 22 March 1943

Richard Ellison Ovenden was born in 1907 and lived at Lancaster Gate before the Second War. He served with the 9th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry and was killed in action on 22 March 1943. Ovenden is buried in the Sfax War Cemetery, Tunisia.
