Revenue Stamps
1863 St. George & Dragon 2/6d. carmine, a lower left corner example showing pale orange marginal scroll at left, pen-cancelled, fine. A major rarity with only three examples recorded. Photo

Note: The 1863 St. George & Dragon revenue stamps were printed on watermark "1" paper. One single printing of 250 sheets (60,000 stamps) of the 2/6d. was carried out by M.L. Hood of Hobart on 28 October. Three examples of the 2/6d. with scrollwork are known as surviving, all in private collections, these examples having survived only because the sheets were printed extremely close to the margin.
