King George IV
1825 (23 February) LS written from Carlton Palace to King Francis I of the Two Sicilies on receiving news of King Ferdinand's death. King George recalls "the many years during which the ties of friendship and alliance have uninterruptedly subsisted between the two crowns". Signed "George R" on mourning paper folded in the usual manner to a thin rectangle, sealed in black wax bearing part impression of the King's crest and attaching black silk ribbon to front and back.
