1824 (31 August) LS written from Windsor Castle to King Ferdinand I relaying the fact of Extraordinary Envoy William R. Hamilton's return to England and gives praise to Hamilton for his good work. Signed "George R" on paper folded in the usual manner to a thin rectangle with some soiling, sealed in red wax with part impression of the King's crest and attaching red silk ribbon to front and back. William R. Hamilton (1777-1859) Extraordinary Envoy and Minister Plenipotentiary of Great Britain to the Kingdom of Two Sicilies. Hamilton is perhaps better known for his contribution to the British Museum; Hamilton's collection of antiques formed a large part of the Museum's core collection.
