King George II
1745 (1 December) LS from St. James's to Charles III, giving "agreeable news of my Daughter in Law the Princess of Wales being safely brought to bed of a Prince, on the 27th of October last", this child being Prince Henry, son of the Prince of Wales, Frederick Louis. Signed "George R" with filing endorsement on reverse in Spanish. Witten on paper folded in the usual manner to thin rectangle, sealed with wax stamp bearing crest of George II and attaching red silk ribbon to front and back Fine. Photo

Prince Henry, Duke of Cumberland and Strathaern (1745-1790) most notable in history for his marriage to Anne Horton who had been previously married and of no royal descent. In response, King George II issued the Marriage Act in 1772 which still stands today stipulating that any marriage of a member of the royal family must be approved by the Sovereign
